Who are we?
Costa Rica’s National Tourism Chamber (CANATUR) was founded in 1974 as a
non-profit organization, with the main purpose of integrating the private tourism initiative.
CANATUR is the leading entity of Costa Rican business organizations that brings
together the highest hierarchy of the chambers and associations of the country’s private tourism sector,
whose members represent the national tourism industry.
Thus, CANATUR represents the entire Costa Rican business sector, both consolidated
and united, reason for which it is one of the organizations of the civil society with greatest
prominence within the national arena.
|
Mission
Promote the development and sustainable growth of the tourism sector in a dynamic,
proactive, and representative manner, through the consolidation of its financial, organizational,
and human development. It will promote its acknowledgment in the national and regional public and
private sector and will implement policies and projects that contribute to generate favorable conditions
for the defense of the interests of the Associates.
|
Vision
Be the leading organization of the Costa Rican tourism industry, acknowledged
as the most influential and representative business chamber in the country, consolidated,
stable, safe, and respectable, with credibility, and ethical values. It will help obtain all
necessary conditions, with the objective of achieving a competitive tourism activity and sustainable
growth, both nationally and regionally
|
Objectives of the Chamber
- Unify the criteria of the different entities of the organized private sector represented in CANATUR,
through dialogue and agreements, in order to define a single position of the business sector
with regard to the matters declared of general interest.
- Represent the Costa Rican private sector before the Supreme Powers of the Republic and different
national and international instances, in defense of the interests of the country over those that
are specific or of a specific sector.
- Promote the enactment of laws, stipulations, and measures that are beneficial to the supreme
interests of the country and the Costa Rican private sector.
- Intervene and state its position in all those matters that directly affect private initiatives.
- Establish and offer friendship ties and cooperation with those national or international
entities or organizations, whose principles or foundations are in agreement with those that
inspire CANATUR.
